EL TAPIAL D'ELS PORTS

 (VAL) Aquest tapial és l’emprat tradicionalment a la comarca dels Ports, una comarca de Castelló on la construcció amb tàpia ha estat present durant segles. Es mostren els components d'aquest tipus d'encofrat, que ha experimentat molt poques variacions al llarg del temps, i en constatem l'ús des de fa 400 anys, com a mínim, i ha estat emprant-se fins als anys seixanta del passat segle. Excepte les agulles, tots els elements són de fusta, de pi, normalment, excepte el picó que serà de carrasca amb mànec de lledoner. És recomanable que aquesta estiga exempta de grops, especialment a les tapieres. El conjunt, una vegada muntat, adquireix forma de caixó obert per la part superior, per on s'abocarà la terra.

(EN) TRADITIONAL FORMWORKS OF ELS PORTS, SPAIN 

 This formwork is the one traditionally used in Els Ports, an area of the province of Castelló in Spain, where rammed earth has been used in construction for centuries. It shows the components used in this type of formwork. These elements are almost unchanged for at least 400 years and were still in common use up to the 1960’s. Apart from the iron keys, all the elements are made of wood, normally Pine, except for the rammer, which is made of Holm Oak (the head) and Mediterranean Hackberry (the handle). It is advisable that good quality materials are used, especially for the boards. Once assembled, the formwork looks like an open topped drawer into which the earth is then poured.
